Dalacin Cream

Dalacin cream is an antibiotic vaginal medicinal cream for bacterial vaginosis in adult women. The active substance in Dalacín 2% cream is clindamycin phosphate. Your doctor will prescribe this medicine for you if you have a bacterial vaginal infection – bacterial vaginosis. This infection originates when the balance between fungi and bacteria in the vagina is disturbed. Bacterial vaginosis is not contagious, and it is not an STD (sexually transmitted disease). It often goes away on its own but can take several weeks. An increase and an unpleasant odor of vaginal discharge can be seen. Maintaining the natural balance of the vagina is important, so avoid washing more often and using soap. It is enough to wash with water and dry well. The inside of the vagina cleans itself. Wear cotton underwear and do not use a panty liner to avoid bad perspiration, which favors the development and reproduction of fungi.

Dalacin cream has a bacteriostatic effect. It interferes with protein synthesis, in a manner similar to erythromycin and chloramphenicol, binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. This causes antagonism if they are administered simultaneously and makes cross-resistance possible.

This BV treatment prescription medicine is also used to treat other types of bacterial infections other than Bacterial Vaginosis, including infections of the lungs, skin, blood, as well as internal organs. Dalacin cream belongs to a class of medications called lincomycin antibiotics. However, in order to use this medicine, you will need a medical prescription, therefore, please consult with your doctor to obtain a prescription for this BV medication.

Dalacin cream is administered with a disposable applicator. The usual thing is a dose of 5 grams (one application) before going to bed. Always read the label and follow the doctor’s instructions. Wash your hands before and after inserting the applicator. It is important to complete the treatment (usually 7 days), even if the symptoms have subsided considerably or even disappeared. Bacteria may still remain. If you have missed a dose, take it in the morning before you get up. If this is not possible, prolong the treatment for one more day. It is not necessary that your partner also follow the treatment unless it is a woman. It is advisable to treat vaginal infections since they can cause inflammation in the fallopian tubes. Warning! The use of Dalacin cream is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation. If there is a pressing need, see a doctor first.

Adults and over 16 years

The recommended dose is a cream-filled applicator (approximately 5 grams) vaginally at bedtime for 3 to 7 consecutive days.

If you use more Dalacin than you should, there shouldn’t be any worries since there have been no cases of overdose have been reported with the use of this medicine.

Accidental oral intake of the product may produce effects comparable to those produced by oral administration of therapeutic concentrations of clindamycin.

Like all medicines, this medicine can have side effects, although not everybody gets them. In clinical studies, the safety of clindamycin vaginal cream has been evaluated in both non-pregnant patients and patients in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

• Bacterial
• Allergic reaction
• Vertigo
• Nosebleed
• Bloating of the abdomen, gas, bad
• Redness of the skin, hives (rash with red spots and itching).
• Discomfort when
• Infection of the vagina by a microorganism known as Trichomonas, infection in the vagina, pain in the pelvis.
• Altered results of microbiology tests (diagnostic tests to detect infections by microorganisms).
