What is Ellaone?

The ellaOne tablet is an emergency oral contraceptive pill. After having unprotected sex, or the failure of your usual contraceptive method, a single pill prevents the risk of an unplanned pregnancy. ellaOne should be taken as soon as possible. It is most effective if taken within the first 24 hours and should not be taken later than 5 days (120 hours) after having unprotected intercourse or failure of the regularly used contraceptive used.

If you are lactose intolerant, you should be aware that each ellaOne pill contains 237 mg of lactose (as monohydrate); Talk to your pharmacist or doctor to see if it presents risks to you. ellaOne is for occasional use only and is not a substitute for regular contraception. If ovulation has already occurred, ellaOne will not be able to function. The sooner it is taken, the greater the chances of reducing the risk of pregnancy.

How does it work?

After having unprotected intercourse, the sperm travels through the fallopian tubes, where they await the release of the egg. Since the sperm has a maximum life of five days, ellaOne prevents or delays ovulation so that the sperm does not meet the egg. Taking ellaOne as soon as possible is advised as it is most effective in the first 24 hours after having unprotected sex or if your regular contraceptive method has failed.

The ellaOne pill delays ovulation, preventing pregnancy in approximately 99.1% of cases * in the first 24 hours and cash in 97.9% of cases * of cases after 72 hours.

Keep in mind that it does not cause an abortion, it works by delaying ovulation. It does not interrupt an existing pregnancy.

How do I use it and its dosage?

These are very specific and must be followed carefully to ensure that the medicine works effectively. Please keep in mind that this pill may not prevent pregnancy, even if applied correctly.

You take a single tablet orally. This should be taken as soon as possible, after having had unprotected sex, but never after the next five days. Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you are pregnant after taking the treatment.

Treatment consists of administering one tablet orally as soon as possible, but as maximum of 120 hours (5 days) after having unprotected sex.

EllaOne can be taken at any time during the menstrual cycle. If vomiting occurs within three hours of administration of ellaOne, another contraceptive pill should be taken.
