Kliofem is known as continuous combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT). It is made up of two female hormones: estradiol (2 mg), which is the same produced by a woman’s ovaries, and norethisterone acetate (1 mg), which is a synthetic progestogen and acts like a woman’s progesterone. You should take your Kliofem tablets with a glass of water, once a day, at the same time every day, and with or without food. Each pack contains 28 tablets for a month’s supply, and when you have finished a pack, you should start a new pack the next day.

What is Kliofem?

Kliofem tablets are a combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for women with an intact uterus, which is used to replace the lack of ovarian estrogen production that occurs during menopause. Kliofem tablets help alleviate menopausal symptoms caused by estrogen deficiency, such as hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, vaginal dryness, headaches, mood swings, poor concentration, and loss of energy; while at the same time protecting against endometrial cancer (lining of the uterus). Kliofem tablets are also used to help prevent postmenopausal bone loss (osteoporosis) and reduce the risk of fracture.

Kliofem tablets contain two active ingredients: 2 mg estradiol hemihydrate and 1 mg norethisterone, a synthetic derivative of the female sex hormone progesterone. They also contain lactose, corn starch, gelatin, talc, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, and glycerol triacetate.

How does it work?

Being one of the best HRT medications to take, Kliofem tablets contain a combination of two hormones: estradiol, which is chemically and biologically identical to naturally produced estrogen; and norethisterone, a synthetic derivative of the female sex hormone progesterone, which means that its chemical structure closely resembles that of naturally produced progesterone and works similarly, but has very few androgenic effects. Estrogen is the female steroid hormone produced by the ovaries that bind to specific receptors within estrogen-sensitive cells and stimulates them to produce proteins involved in various aspects of female secondary characteristics, including regulation of the menstrual cycle.

What are the benefits of taking it?

Kliofem tablets are manufactured by Novo Nordisk laboratories. It contains a generic version of estrogen and progesterone and is used as a Hormone Replacement Therapy. This medication treats symptoms associated with menopause in cases where a hysterectomy has not been performed. This pill is taken once a day, always at the same time. The medication comes with a calendar that allows you to keep track of treatment.

How do I use it and Its dosage?

You should take your Kliofem tablets with a glass of water, once a day, at the same time every day, and with or without food. Each pack contains 28 tablets for a month’s supply, and when you have finished a pack, you should start a new pack the next day. You should take your Kliofem tablets continuously until your symptoms improve or whenever your doctor recommends it. Kliofem tablets should not be taken indefinitely due to health risks.

If less than 12 hours have passed since you forgot to take your daily Kliofem (Kliogest), take the forgotten tablet, then take the next tablet at the usual time. If more than 12 hours have passed, discard the forgotten tablet and take the next tablet at the usual time; do not take a double dose.
