Ventolin is used to treat breathing problems caused by asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), or other airway conditions. Such problems can manifest as chest tightness, shortness of breath, and wheezing. Ventolin relaxes the muscles of the airway walls to facilitate breathing. This medication can also be used to prevent some breathing difficulties, for example, those associated with allergies, or asthma attacks when exerting effort. Ventolin Inhalator sprays a dose of powder into the oral cavity. Shake it well before use, and inhale as you press down on the inhaler so that the powder reaches the lungs directly. After inhalation, hold your breath for at least 10 to avoid exhaling the medication. If you need a second administration, wait half a minute.

What is the Ventolin Evohaler?

Ventolin is a short-acting airway dilator. It is a powder medicine that is administered through an inhaler. The active substance, salbutamol, decompresses the airways, relieving symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing. With a short press of the canister, the blue inhaler releases a fine mist of salbutamol which is directly breathed into the airways, targeting the lungs with precision and allowing your airways to relax and expand. From just 1-2 puffs up to four times a day when required, the Ventolin inhaler is able to relieve chest tightness for up to 6 hours, thanks to the fast acting salbutamol. Ventolin Evohalers are classed as a ‘reliever’ inhaler, used to alleviate symptoms of asthma only when they are present. Most asthma patients keep these reliever inhalers as a spare just incase it is needed.

How does Ventolin Evohaler work?

Ventolin is a medication that contains the active ingredient albuterol, which belongs to a class of drugs called beta-agonists. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe. When inhaled, Ventolin quickly opens up the air passages in the lungs, making it an effective treatment for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other respiratory conditions.

What are the benefits of using the Ventolin Evohaler?

Quick Symptom Relief: Experience the remarkable power of Ventolin Evohaler. This little blue inhaler is able to provide instantaneous releif from asthma related symptoms such as wheezing, coughing and having a tight chest with a shortness of breath. As this is a fast-acting medication, it is brilliant at easing breathing difficulties swiftly.

Bronchodilation: Ventolin contains Albuterol, which is able to influence an internal reaction known as ‘bronchodilation’. This is effectively when the muscles around the airways are able to relax, allowing you to breathe easier. When asthmatic symptoms occur, these airways tend to tighten and contract. Having a Ventolin Evohaler handy is good to ease these respiratory symptoms.

Rescue Medication: The blue inhaler designed by GlaxoSmithKlein (GSK) has proven its efficiency on being dubbed as a ‘rescue medication’. It provides prompt relief during flare-ups or asthma triggering symptoms  and is used on an as-needed basis to help with acute asthmatic episodes

Portability and Convenience: With it’s small cannister, and surrounding actuator and mouthpiece, the Ventolin Evohaler is a compact and portable source of relief for asthmatics wherever they may be. Its convenient size ensures that you have access to quick relief whenever and wherever symptoms arise.

Emergency Use: The Evohaler is unbeatable in emergency situations when further medical attention is needed, such as an asthma attack. It can provide rapid relief while waiting for medical assistance.

Direct Lung Delivery: With Ventolin being an aerosol based medication, it can dispense medicine directly into the lungs, helping it achieve targeted and efficient relief. This can also help reduce the usual side effects that are often seen when taking oral medication.

Enhanced Quality of Life: Following the appropriate dosage patterns with a Ventolin Evohaler can help motivate you toward more physical activities without feeling fatigued and short of breath. The comfort that Ventolin will bring you will ultimately improve your quality of life and drive you toward greater pursuits with maximised comfort.

How do I use Ventolin Evohaler and its dosage?

Always use this seasonal inhaler exactly as your doctor has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.

Remember to use your medicine.

Your doctor will indicate the duration of your Ventolin treatment. Do not stop treatment earlier.

The Ventolin inhaler pressurized inhalation produces a fine mist that must be inhaled into the lungs. Make sure you know how to use the inhaler correctly. If you have any problems, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

What are the Side effects & precautions of Ventolin Evohaler?

Like all medicines, this asthma treatment inhaler can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Some people may be allergic to medicines. If you experience any of the following symptoms immediately after using Ventolin, stop treatment, and notify your doctor as soon as possible.

Symptoms to watch out for:

Allergic reactions: they are very rare in patients using Ventolin. The signs include:

  • A sudden appearance of “whistles” or tightness in the chest
  • swelling of the eyelids, face or lips
  • skin rash (hives) or hives anywhere on the body
  • A sudden feeling of weakness or dizziness (can lead to collapse or loss of consciousness).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms. Stop using Ventolin.

The adverse effects associated with salbutamol classified by organ, system, and frequency are indicated below. The meaning of the terms used to describe the frequency of adverse effects is as follows:

Tell your doctor if you have any of the following symptoms:

Immune system disorders:

  • Very rare: hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions including angioedema (skin reactions with erythema, edema, and itching), urticaria, bronchospasm (narrowing of the bronchial walls with decreased air intake), hypotension and collapse.

Metabolism and nutrition disorders

  • Rare: hypokalemia (low levels of potassium in the blood).

Therapy with agonists can lead to potentially severe hypokalemia.

Nervous system disorders

  • Common: tremor, headache (headache).
  • Very rare: hyperactivity (agitation and excitability).

Cardiac disorders

  • Common: tachycardia (increased heart rate).
  • Uncommon: palpitations (irregular heartbeat).
  • Very rare: cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, and extrasystoles (heart rhythm disorders).

Although it is not known exactly how often it occurs, some people may occasionally experience chest pain (due to heart problems such as angina). Tell your doctor if you develop these symptoms while you are being treated with salbutamol, but do not stop taking it unless you are told to do so.

Vascular disorders

  • Rare: peripheral vasodilation (dilation of the size of the peripheral blood vessels).

Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders

  • Very rare: paradoxical bronchospasm (narrowing of the bronchial walls with decreased air intake).

Gastrointestinal disorders

  • Uncommon: mouth and throat irritations

Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders

  • Uncommon: muscle cramps.
